When the unit is shut down for a short time, the pressure pipe inlet gate is generally not closed. Because this will drain the water in the pressure pipe due to the leakage at the end of the pipe, it is necessary to re-fill the pressure pipe before starting again, which not only extends the startup time of the unit, but also makes the unit cannot maintain the standby state at any time, and loses the flexibility and speed of the operation of the hydropower station. Closing the inlet valve can both reduce water leakage and shorten the time required to start the unit again. For medium and high head power stations with long pressure tubes, this role of the turbine main valve is more obvious.
3. Prevent the expansion of unit runaway accidents.
